What is a portable hand washing station?
A portable hand washing station is a freestanding sink unit with its own fresh-water tank, a foot pump, soap dispensers and paper towels. The station drains into a separate gray-water tank. The two-sink model serves two people at once and holds 22 gallons, enough for nearly 300 hand washes per fill.

How many hand washing stations do I need?
Plan 1 hand washing station for every 4 porta potties at an event with food, and at least 1 per food vendor area. Construction sites need washing facilities under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(f) for workers handling paint, coatings or other contaminants. A crew of 10 is usually covered by 1 two-sink station.

Can I rent a hand washing station without a porta potty?
A hand washing station can be rented alone. Parks with restrooms but no sinks, farmers market booths, petting zoos and school field days often rent only stations. A one-day event uses one fill. Multi-day use adds a refill visit, which drains the gray water and loads fresh water.
Questions before you book
Does the hand washing station come with soap and towels?
Each station arrives with soap dispensers filled and a full paper towel roll. Refill visits restock both. A trash can next to the station keeps towels off the ground.
Is a sink inside the porta potty better than a separate station?
A sink inside a flushing unit serves one person at a time and costs less than a separate station. A freestanding station serves two at once and works for people who are not using the toilet, such as food lines and kids after a petting zoo.
Is the water in the station drinkable?
Station water is fresh potable water, but it is for washing only. Provide bottled water or a cooler for drinking.
Can a hand washing station freeze?
A hand washing station can freeze on Cortez winter nights. From late October to April we suggest sanitizer dispensers instead, or we refill stations in the morning and drain them at the end of each event day.
