Porta potty delivery and timing
Do you deliver to my town?
Core Sanitation Units delivers within about 80 road miles of Cortez, across Montezuma, Dolores, La Plata and part of San Miguel County in Colorado, plus San Juan County in Utah and New Mexico. See every town and ZIP.
How soon can you deliver a porta potty?
Same-day delivery is available Monday through Saturday when you call by noon. Calls after noon usually get the first stop the next morning. Farther towns such as Bayfield, Aztec and Telluride run on route days.
What time will the porta potty arrive?
Deliveries run between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. We note a morning or afternoon request and try to meet it, but we do not promise an exact hour. The driver texts 30 to 60 minutes before arriving.
Can the driver call when he's on the way?
The driver texts or calls 30 to 60 minutes before arrival so you can open a gate or put pets inside. Give us a second contact number if you will be busy.
Do you deliver on weekends?
Deliveries and pickups run Monday through Saturday. Sunday events get a Friday or Saturday drop-off and a Monday pickup at no extra charge.
If my event is Saturday, when do you bring the unit?
Saturday events get a Friday drop-off or an early Saturday drop-off, your choice. Pickup is Monday. The event price covers those days.
Can you deliver Saturday morning so it is not sitting in a park overnight?
Saturday morning drop-off is available for park and public events. Tell us when the event starts so the unit is set before guests arrive.
Do I need to be there when you deliver?
Nobody needs to be on site. Mark the spot with a cone or flag, text a photo of the spot, and leave gates unlocked or share the code. The driver texts a photo once the unit is set.
Will someone confirm the delivery happened?
The driver texts a photo of the unit in place right after setting it, so you know it arrived even if nobody is home.
Can you find a site with no street address?
Send a GPS pin, coordinates or written directions with landmarks. Ranch, oil field, homesite and raw-land deliveries work this way.
How far ahead should I book?
Book 1 to 2 weeks ahead for summer weekends and holidays, and as soon as possible for trailers and wheelchair-accessible units. Standard units for job sites can often go out the same day.
Is a month ahead enough notice for a wedding?
A month ahead is usually enough for porta potties. For a restroom trailer on a June to September Saturday, book as soon as your venue and date are set.
Are you a local company or a broker?
Core Sanitation Units is a local operator with its own yard, trucks and units in Cortez, Colorado. When you call (970) 239-2060, you reach the people who dispatch your delivery.
Same-day and emergencies
Do you have any porta potties available today?
Standard units are almost always available for same-day delivery when you call by noon. Flushing, accessible units and trailers are fewer, so ask early.
We forgot porta potties for today's event. Can you help?
Call right away. If the call is in by noon, we add your stop to that afternoon's route. Tell us the start time and we will aim to set the units before guests arrive.
Our septic failed. How fast can you get a unit to the house?
A septic or sewer failure is a common same-day call. Call by noon and a unit is usually set that afternoon. Read our septic failure guide.
Is there a rush fee for same-day?
Some same-day orders carry a rush charge when a truck leaves its route. Any charge appears on the quote before you pay, and many orders near Cortez have none.
Can you deliver first thing tomorrow morning?
First-stop-of-the-day delivery is available for next-morning orders. Ask for the first stop when you book.
Cost and payment
How much does a porta potty cost to rent?
A standard porta potty starts at $175 for a weekend event and $195 per 28 days with weekly service on a job site, in the Cortez zone. Delivery, pickup and tax appear on one itemized quote. Full cost guide.
Is the price all-in, with tax and everything?
The quote shows every line: unit, delivery, pickup, service, any trip charge and tax. The total at the bottom is what you pay, with no fuel surcharge or fee added after you approve it.
Is the delivery fee charged both ways?
Delivery and pickup are quoted together as one trip charge per order, not once for each direction.
Is a unit with a sink more expensive?
A flushing unit with a built-in sink costs more than a standard unit but usually less than a standard unit plus a separate hand washing station.
Does renting more units lower the price?
The second and later units share one delivery trip, so the cost per unit drops when you rent several.
Do prices go up in summer?
Summer weekends sell out first, so booking early protects your date. Our starting prices are listed on the cost guide and checked twice a year.
How do I pay?
Pay by credit or debit card over the phone or through a secure link we text you. Contractors and agencies can set up an account and pay by invoice.
Can I pay cash when you drop it off?
Drivers do not collect cash. Pay by card before delivery, or set up a business account for invoice billing.
Can I mail a check?
Business accounts can pay invoices by check. One-time rentals are paid by card when you book.
Can someone else pay for the rental?
Another person can pay. We text the payment link to the payer and send the receipt to both of you.
Do I pay a deposit?
There is no separate deposit. The rental is paid when you book, which reserves the units and the date.
Can you email me a quote for my boss or office?
We email or text a written, itemized quote you can forward. Quotes hold for 14 days.
Do I get any money back when you pick it up?
Event prices are flat, so there is no refund at pickup. Long-term rentals stop billing at the next 28-day cycle after you request pickup.
Rental length and billing
How long is a rental period?
Event rentals cover drop-off through the next business day, up to 3 days. Job site and long-term rentals run in 28-day cycles with weekly service.
Is the monthly price 28 days or 30 days?
Long-term rentals bill every 28 days, which is four weekly services. Over a year that is 13 cycles.
If I only need it two weeks, is the price the same?
A two-week job pays one 28-day cycle, because delivery, pickup and setup are the same. Call when you are done and we pick up early.
Can I keep it longer than I planned?
Extending is a phone call or text. The rental keeps renewing every 28 days until you ask for pickup, with no new paperwork.
Do I need to call before the 28 days end?
Call or text before the cycle ends to avoid the next charge. We text a reminder a few days before each renewal.
Can I leave the end date open?
Open-ended rentals are normal for builds and repairs. Billing renews every 28 days until you call for pickup.
Do you do daily or hourly rentals?
We do not rent by the hour. A one-day event uses the event rate, which covers drop-off, the event day and pickup.
Cleaning and service
How often do you clean the porta potty?
Rentals of a week or longer get one service visit every week: pump, scrub, sanitize, deodorize and restock. Busy sites can add visits.
What happens during a service visit?
The technician pumps the tank, adds fresh deodorizer, scrubs the seat, walls, urinal and floor, restocks toilet paper and sanitizer, and checks the door and vent.
Can I get two cleanings a week?
A second weekly service is available for busy sites or summer heat. It is priced per visit and shown on your quote.
Can it be serviced once a month on a low-use site?
Weekly service is our standard even on light-use sites, because odor and pests build up. Tell us about very light use and we will advise honestly.
Can my own crew clean the unit instead?
Our units are serviced only by our technicians, who pump the tank to an approved disposal site as Colorado rules require.
Do you clean the units between rentals?
Every unit is pumped, washed, sanitized and restocked at the yard before it goes to the next customer.
Will it smell?
A serviced unit has a mild deodorizer scent. Odor rises when the tank is near full or the unit bakes in afternoon sun, so we size and service units to prevent both.
Can you refill a hand washing station mid-event?
Mid-event refills for hand washing stations are available for long or multi-day events. Book the visit when you order.
Units and features
What is the difference between standard and deluxe?
A standard unit has a toilet, urinal and sanitizer. A deluxe flushing unit adds a foot-pump flush and a sink with soap and paper towels, and it is slightly wider. Compare units.
Does a standard porta potty have a sink?
A standard porta potty has a hand sanitizer dispenser, not a sink. Choose a flushing unit or add a hand washing station for soap and water.
Does the flushing unit need a water hookup?
The flushing unit needs no hookup. The truck fills its fresh-water tank at delivery and at each service.
Is there a light inside?
Porta potties have a translucent roof for daytime light but no electric light. For evening events, add a battery tap light or place units near lighting.
Is there a mirror?
Flushing units usually have a small mirror. Restroom trailers have full vanity mirrors.
Do you provide toilet paper and sanitizer?
Every unit arrives with toilet paper, spare rolls and a full sanitizer dispenser. Weekly service restocks both.
Do you have handicap-accessible porta potties?
Wheelchair-accessible units with a ground-level floor, wide door and grab bars are available. Public events need at least 5 percent accessible. Specs and rules.
Can I rent just a hand washing station?
Hand washing stations rent on their own for parks, markets and food booths that already have toilets.
Does the hand washing station have one sink or two?
Our hand washing stations have two sinks, a foot pump and 22 gallons of fresh water, enough for about 300 washes.
Do you rent restroom trailers?
Two-stall restroom trailers with flushing toilets, vanity sinks and lights are available for weddings and VIP events. They need level ground and a 20-amp outlet. Trailer details.
Do you have units with showers?
We do not rent shower units. For multi-day camps, ask about flushing units and hand washing stations.
Do you sell porta potties?
We rent and service portable restrooms; we do not sell new or used units.
Do you pump RV or septic tanks?
We service our own rental units only. For an RV holding tank or a home septic tank, call a licensed septic pumper.
Do construction and event units look the same?
Both use the same size shell. Event bookings get units with clean, unfaded exteriors; job site units have a padlock hasp.
Placement and site access
Where should I put the porta potty?
Pick level ground within 25 feet of where the truck can park, away from doors, windows and food, with room for the service technician to reach it. Full placement checklist.
Can I send a photo of where I want it?
Text a photo of the spot with an arrow or a marker to (970) 239-2060. The driver uses it to set the unit exactly where you want.
Is a slope a problem?
A slope over a couple of inches across the base can make a unit rock or tip. The driver can shim small slopes; steeper spots need a different location.
Should it go on grass or the driveway?
Firm, level ground works best. A driveway or gravel pad is ideal; dry, mowed grass is fine. Avoid soft lawn after rain, because the truck needs to reach it weekly.
How much space does a porta potty take?
A standard unit is about 43.5 inches wide by 47 inches deep and 91 inches tall. Leave about 7 feet square of clear space, and 1 foot between units in a row.
What size truck do you bring?
Delivery uses a service truck or a truck with a trailer. Allow a path about 10 feet wide and 12 feet high, clear of low branches, wires and arches.
Will the driver drive on my grass?
The driver avoids lawns when possible and will hand-carry a unit up to 25 feet. Tell us about septic tanks, sprinkler lines or soft spots.
Can we move the units ourselves?
Empty units can be slid a short distance on level ground. Do not move a used unit; ask us to move it on the next service day.
Can I lock the porta potty?
Units have a hasp that takes a padlock or zip tie. Leave the key or combination for the service technician.
Can it go on the street in front of my house?
Placing a unit in a street or sidewalk usually needs city approval. Most home units go on the driveway or a side yard.

50 guests need 1 porta potty for up to 4 hours and 2 for a 5-to-8-hour event. Add 1 if alcohol is served.
How many porta potties for 100 guests?
100 guests need 2 porta potties for up to 4 hours, 3 for 5 to 8 hours, and 4 for longer. Add 1 for a bar.

Do I need a permit for porta potties at my event?
A private party on private land does not need one. Public events in Cortez parks or streets use the city special event application. Event permit guide.
What is best for a two-day family reunion?
Standard units sized for the larger day, at least one flushing unit or hand washing station near food, and a service visit between days if more than 50 people per unit.
Construction and job sites

Pickup, changes and cancellation
When do you pick up?
Event units are picked up the next business day after the event. Long-term units are picked up within 1 to 2 business days of your call or text.
Does someone need to be there for pickup?
Nobody needs to be there. The unit just needs to be reachable, with gates open or the code shared.

Cancel 48 hours or more before delivery for a full refund. Inside 48 hours, the trip charge is kept. Once a unit is delivered, the event price is not refunded.
Can I change my dates?

Can you pick it up early if we finish early?
Early pickup is free to request on any rental. On long-term rentals, it stops the next 28-day cycle.
Who pays if a unit is damaged?
Normal wear is ours. Damage from fire, vandalism, tipping on purpose or a missing unit is billed at repair or replacement cost. See our rental terms.
What if the unit tips over in the wind?
Call right away. We right the unit, pump any spill and sanitize the area. We stake units on open, windy sites to prevent it.
Weather and seasons
Will a porta potty freeze in a Cortez winter?
Winter units get non-toxic antifreeze in the tank from late October to April, when Cortez lows run near 17°F. Winter guide.
Can I use a flushing unit in winter?
Flushing units and hand washing stations can freeze overnight. In winter we suggest standard units with sanitizer, or a heated restroom trailer with power.
What about summer heat?
On hot days, extra deodorizer and placing the door away from afternoon sun keep odor down. Busy summer sites may need a second weekly service.
What if snow blocks the unit?
Keep a path plowed to the unit so the service truck can reach it. If the path is blocked, we reschedule service as soon as it is cleared.
